Substack: Lost Voices, Imearthed Stories
I have now launched a new Substack site as a way of continuing my family history writing in a more structured and accessible space. Substack is a platform designed for writers to share longer-form posts, reflections, and research directly with readers. Unlike social media, it supports more thoughtful engagement and allows readers to subscribe for updates without the distractions of algorithms or advertising. I hope that Substack will allow me to share reflections, research findings, and updates, without the noise, clutter and chatter of Facebook.
So far, I have uploaded two posts:
The first, A Marathon of Misery, explores the harsh realities of convict transportation—a theme that sits at the heart of this project.
The second, The Past Is Not Always Proud of Itself, returns to themes some readers will recognise from earlier posts on this site, but with a fresh perspective and updated reflections.
You are welcome to subscribe to the Substack (it is free) or simply visit from time to time to see what is new. Comments are open to all readers, and I would welcome your thoughts and questions.
